Tom Ruff

Ever since starting a successful lawn mowing business at age 7, Tom Ruff has had a knack for making things happen. After earning a B.S. from Indiana University, Tom joined one of the top sales recruiting firms in the country, SalesSource, in Chicago. Within his first year, he rose to be their #1 recruiter. He held this distinction again in his second year. In his third year, he headed west to oversee the successful launch of the company's Los Angeles office. 

At just 24, Tom started his own recruiting firm in Los Angeles. By the end of his first year, Tom had an impressive client list and four employees. In the 14 years since, Tom Ruff Company has placed over 2500 medical sales and pharmaceutical sales representatives and his team now services over 100 health care companies nationwide.

Recognized as an expert in his field, Tom speaks regularly at national meetings, forums and universities about trends and opportunities in pharmaceutical sales, recruiting, motivation and leadership. 

So what does Tom do in his spare time? Well, it doesn't involve a remote control. Tom splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.  As a resident of Manhattan Beach, CA, Tom puts in his requisite time on the surfboard. Recess also includes biking and running, usually with Buena Vista Social Club cranked on his iPod. Most of his New York mornings are spent sitting in Jack's Coffee in the West Village, writing his upcoming book, "How to Break Into Pharmaceutical Sales...A Headhunter's Strategy."  Sit down with him for a few minutes, and you'll understand why he's one of the best medical and pharmaceutical sales recruiters.
